Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tianlong cough and asthma capsule is a combination drug, likely comprising a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal extract, specifically Ficus microcarpa extract, and the Western pharmaceutical ingredient chlorpheniramine maleate. It is administered orally and is being investigated in a Phase 3 clinical trial for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug is also indicated for general cough, asthma, and chronic bronchitis. The Ficus microcarpa extract is believed to exert anti-inflammatory, antitussive, expectorant, and bronchodilatory effects through modulating various inflammatory and cough reflex pathways. Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as a histamine H1 receptor antagonist, providing antihistaminic effects to alleviate allergic symptoms.
