Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tianma Gouteng Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Chengdu Jiuzhitang Jinding Pharmaceutical. It is a widely used herbal remedy in China, primarily indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with Liver-Yang hyperactivity (Gan Yang Shang Kang), a TCM pattern often correlating with hypertension and neurological distress. The formula is composed of several botanical and mineral ingredients, most notably *Gastrodia elata* (Tianma) and *Uncaria rhynchophylla* (Gouteng). These components are traditionally used to extinguish internal wind, calm the liver, and clear heat. Clinical applications include the management of headache, dizziness, tinnitus, blurred vision, and insomnia. Pharmacological studies suggest that the active constituents, such as gastrodin and rhynchophylline, provide vasodilatory, sedative, and neuroprotective effects by modulating neurotransmitter systems and ion channels.
