Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tianma Pills (Tianma Wan) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation officially listed in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China. It is primarily composed of *Gastrodia elata* (Tianma) along with other herbal ingredients such as *Notopterygium incisum* and *Angelica sinensis*. The formulation is traditionally used to expel wind, remove dampness, relax tendons, and activate collaterals. Clinically, it is indicated for the treatment of rheumatism, muscle contracture, numbness of limbs, and aching in the lower back and legs, particularly when associated with liver and kidney deficiency. It is also employed to manage symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, and tremors. As a botanical product, its therapeutic effects are attributed to a synergistic combination of multiple active compounds rather than a single molecular target.
