Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tiaoying Zengye Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Shanghai Jing'an Mental Health Center for the treatment of clozapine-induced constipation. Clozapine, an atypical antipsychotic, frequently causes gastrointestinal hypomotility and severe constipation due to its potent anticholinergic and antiserotonergic properties. Tiaoying Zengye Decoction is designed to increase fluids (Zengye) and regulate the nutritive level (Tiaoying), aiming to moisten the intestines and promote bowel movements. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to determine its efficacy and safety as a complementary therapy for psychiatric patients experiencing treatment-resistant constipation.
