Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tiaozhi Tongmai is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Fangshan Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of atherosclerosis, specifically carotid atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia. The preparation, typically administered as granules, is designed to regulate lipid metabolism and inhibit the progression of arterial plaques. Clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to reduce carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and improve serum lipid profiles by lowering total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides (TG). Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its multi-component nature, which targets oxidative stress, inflammatory pathways, and lipid transport mechanisms within the vascular endothelium.
