Overview

This is a combination of two drugs, ticagrelor and methoxyflurane. Ticagrelor is an oral antiplatelet agent that acts as a reversible antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation and reducing the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction and stroke. It is primarily used in patients with acute coronary syndrome or a history of myocardial infarction. Methoxyflurane is an inhaled volatile anesthetic used at sub-anesthetic doses for short-term pain relief, especially in trauma settings. It provides rapid-onset analgesia via modulation of neuronal ion channels but does not act on opioid receptors and does not cause respiratory depression typical of opioids. The combination has been studied to assess whether methoxyflurane affects the pharmacodynamics or efficacy of ticagrelor in patients with unstable angina pectoris; current evidence suggests no significant interaction affecting ticagrelor’s antiplatelet effect[1][3][4].
