Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TicaTrue is a brand of ticagrelor, an oral antiplatelet medication marketed by Verse Lifesciences. Ticagrelor is a direct-acting, reversible antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor, which is a primary receptor for adenosine diphosphate (ADP) on the platelet surface. By inhibiting this receptor, TicaTrue prevents platelet activation and subsequent aggregation, thereby reducing the risk of thrombotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or those with a high risk of cardiovascular events. Unlike thienopyridines such as clopidogrel, ticagrelor is not a prodrug and does not require hepatic bioactivation to exert its effects, providing a more rapid and consistent antiplatelet effect.
