Overview

Tick-borne encephalitis monoclonal antibody is an experimental immunotherapeutic being developed by Mapp Biopharmaceutical and its commercial arm, LeafBio, for the treatment and prevention of Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). TBE is a viral infectious disease of the central nervous system caused by the Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), a member of the Flaviviridae family. This monoclonal antibody is designed to bind to and neutralize the virus, specifically targeting the viral envelope (E) protein to prevent viral attachment and entry into host cells. The candidate is intended for intravenous (IV) administration and is currently in the preclinical stage of development as part of Mapp's broader pipeline of anti-viral monoclonal antibodies.
