tick-borne encephalitis vaccine (Novartis)

Encepur Children is a pediatric vaccine indicated for active immunization against tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) in children aged 1 to 11 years. It is an inactivated, purified whole-virus vaccine based on the European TBE virus strain K23, which is grown in primary chick embryo cells and inactivated using formaldehyde. The vaccine is designed to provide protection against all three major subtypes of the TBE virus (European, Far Eastern, and Siberian). It is administered as a 0.25 mL intramuscular injection, which is half the dose of the adult formulation. Originally developed by Novartis and later acquired by GSK, the product is currently owned and marketed by Bavarian Nordic.
