Tiefenfluorid is a two-component "deep fluoridation" dental system developed by Humanchemie GmbH. It is used for the noninvasive management of early childhood caries, the prevention of enamel demineralization (particularly during orthodontic treatment), and the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. The system consists of a first solution (Touchierlösung) containing magnesium fluorosilicate, copper-II-fluorosilicate, and sodium fluoride, followed by a second suspension (Nachtouchierlösung) of calcium hydroxide. Upon sequential application, these components react within the pores of the tooth enamel and dentin to precipitate submicroscopic crystals of calcium fluoride, magnesium fluoride, and copper fluoride. This process creates a high-concentration fluoride depot deep within the tooth structure, providing long-term remineralization, tubule sealing for sensitivity relief, and sustained bactericidal effects due to the copper content.
