Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tifentai (Y101) is an orally bioavailable small molecule antiviral candidate developed by Guizhou Bailing Enterprise Group Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is a synthetic derivative based on the active polyphenolic components of *Penthorum chinense Pursh*, a medicinal herb used in traditional Miao medicine. Tifentai demonstrates the ability to inhibit HBV DNA replication and reduce the levels of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) in serum. The drug is designed to provide a novel therapeutic option for patients with chronic hepatitis B, potentially offering a different mechanism of action compared to existing nucleoside/nucleotide analogs. It has been evaluated in Phase I and Phase II clinical trials in China to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and antiviral activity.
