Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TIGR4-Fc is a preclinical-stage recombinant fusion protein consisting of a truncated IgA protease derived from *Streptococcus pneumoniae* strain TIGR4 fused to an immunoglobulin Fc domain. Developed by Alebund Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, TIGR4-Fc is designed for the treatment of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). The IgA protease specifically cleaves the hinge region of human IgA1 heavy chains, thereby clearing pathogenic IgA and IgA-containing immune complexes deposited in the glomerular mesangial area of the kidneys. The fusion with the Fc domain extends the plasma half-life of the protease, allowing for sustained in vivo efficacy.
