Overview

Tigulixostat is an orally administered, nonpurine, selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor developed for the treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. By inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, tigulixostat reduces the production of uric acid in the body, thereby lowering serum urate levels and helping to prevent gout flares and related complications. Clinical trials have demonstrated that tigulixostat significantly lowers serum urate compared to placebo with an acceptable safety profile. The drug is being developed by LG Chem and has reached phase III clinical trials for gout[2][4][5][7].
