Overview

TikAb is a human monoclonal antibody developed for the passive immunization against the Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV). Developed by Tika Bioscience, the drug is designed to provide immediate neutralizing activity against the virus, serving as a prophylactic measure for individuals recently exposed to tick bites in endemic regions or as a rapid-acting pre-exposure prophylaxis. TikAb specifically targets the viral envelope (E) protein, which is critical for viral attachment and entry into host cells. By binding to this protein, the antibody neutralizes the virus and prevents the establishment of infection. This therapeutic approach aims to replace older, plasma-derived TBE immunoglobulins that were largely discontinued due to safety concerns and variable efficacy, providing a standardized and safer alternative for rapid protection against TBE.
