Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tilray FS Oral Solution is a pharmaceutical-grade, full-spectrum cannabis extract formulated as an oral solution, containing a balanced 1:1 ratio of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). It is primarily being investigated by the Grupo Español de Investigación en Neurooncología (GEINO) as an adjunctive treatment for patients with recurrent glioblastoma. The therapeutic rationale is based on the ability of cannabinoids to modulate the endocannabinoid system; THC acts as a partial agonist at CB1 and CB2 receptors, while CBD modulates these receptors and other targets like TRPV1 and GPR55. In preclinical models of glioma, this combination has demonstrated the ability to inhibit tumor growth, induce apoptosis via autophagy, and reduce angiogenesis.
