Overview
Tilray medicinal cannabis refers to GMP-certified botanical cannabis products developed by Tilray Brands (formerly Tilray Canada). In the context of a specific safety assessment study conducted in partnership with the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics at the University of Sydney, these products were evaluated for their impact on driving performance. The study utilized two specific formulations: a high-THC variety and a balanced 1:1 THC:CBD variety, both administered via vaporization. The active components, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), interact with the endocannabinoid system, specifically targeting CB1 and CB2 receptors in the central nervous system. While THC is known for its psychoactive effects and potential for impairment, CBD is non-intoxicating. The driving study concluded that THC-dominant cannabis caused temporary impairment, whereas CBD-dominant cannabis did not significantly affect driving ability.
