Timcodar is a synthetic small molecule developed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals, primarily investigated as an efflux pump inhibitor. It was designed to inhibit both mammalian and bacterial efflux pumps, thereby enhancing the activity of other drugs such as antibacterials (e.g., rifampin) and chemotherapeutic agents by preventing their expulsion from cells.
