Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Timoptic PF is a preservative-free ophthalmic formulation of timolol maleate, a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker used to lower elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. As a topical ocular beta-blocker, timolol reduces aqueous humor production in the ciliary body, leading to decreased intraocular pressure and reduced risk of glaucomatous optic nerve damage. The preservative-free single-use presentation is intended for patients who are sensitive to benzalkonium chloride or who require avoidance of preservatives while maintaining efficacy comparable to conventional timolol eye drops.
