Overview

Gynomax XL is a fixed-dose combination vaginal suppository (ovule) developed by Exeltis Healthcare for the local treatment of various vaginal infections, including vulvovaginal candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis, trichomonal vaginitis, and mixed vaginal infections. It contains three active ingredients: tinidazole (300 mg), a nitroimidazole derivative with antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity; tioconazole (200 mg), a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal; and lidocaine (100 mg), a local anesthetic. Tinidazole acts by damaging the DNA of anaerobic bacteria and *Trichomonas vaginalis*, tioconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, and lidocaine provides rapid symptomatic relief from itching, burning, and pain. The treatment regimen typically involves the insertion of one suppository daily for three consecutive days. Gynomax XL has been evaluated in Phase III clinical trials in Russia and other multicenter studies in Turkey and Kazakhstan.
