Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tininurad is a small molecule selective urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitor developed by the Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. By inhibiting URAT1, a transporter protein located in the proximal tubule of the kidney responsible for the majority of uric acid reabsorption, tininurad increases the renal excretion of uric acid, thereby lowering serum uric acid levels. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety in patients with gout and hyperuricemia.
