Overview

Tinoridine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is structurally classified as a thienopyridine, containing a thiophene ring fused to a pyridine ring. Unlike many NSAIDs that primarily inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, tinoridine's mechanism of action involves biomembrane stabilization, particularly on lysosomes, and inhibition of lipid peroxide formation and renin release. Tinoridine also inhibits phospholipase C-induced lysosomal enzyme release and has been shown to promote the expression and activity of nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor-2 (Nrf2), thereby inhibiting ferroptosis in cell models. It has been investigated for use in treating pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, low back pain, intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), and other inflammatory disorders[1][4][5][6][7][8]. Developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma.
