Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Tinzaparin** is a porcine-mucosa-derived low-molecular-weight heparin anticoagulant. It enhances antithrombin activity, producing predominantly indirect inhibition of coagulation factor Xa and, to a lesser extent, thrombin, thereby reducing thrombin generation and fibrin-clot formation. It is an established antithrombotic used for venous thromboembolism indications and is being evaluated by Alexandra Hospital in Athens in the preGO randomized study as separately administered low-molecular-weight heparin added to aspirin for prevention of preeclampsia in high-risk pregnant women.
