This is a combination of two anticoagulant drugs, tinzaparin and unfractionated heparin. Both are used to prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Tinzaparin is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) produced by enzymatic depolymerization of unfractionated heparin, with improved pharmacokinetics, lower risk of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, and more predictable anticoagulant effects compared to unfractionated heparin. Unfractionated heparin is a heterogeneous mixture of glycosaminoglycans that acts as an anticoagulant by potentiating antithrombin activity against several activated coagulation factors. Both agents inhibit the formation of fibrin clots but differ in their pharmacological profiles; they are not clinically interchangeable[1][2][3][6][9].
