tiocarlide

Tiocarlide is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of N-phenylthioureas. It has been used as an antitubercular agent for the treatment of tuberculosis. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of mycolic acid synthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis by targeting enzymes involved in fatty acid elongation and cell wall biosynthesis. Tiocarlide was historically used as a second-line drug for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis but has largely fallen out of use due to lower efficacy compared to modern agents and concerns about toxicity[10][6].
