Overview

Tiopinac is a tricyclic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with demonstrated anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, which contributes to its ability to reduce inflammation and pain. Tiopinac has been studied in clinical settings for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, where it showed efficacy in reducing symptoms like walking time, painful joints, morning stiffness, and increasing grip strength. However, development was discontinued due to toxicity observed at higher doses. The compound modulates key inflammatory mediators and pathways—including pro-inflammatory cytokines—and reduces oxidative stress in biological systems[6][7][9].
