Overview

Tiotropium + procaterol is a proposed combination of two bronchodilator drugs: tiotropium, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), and procaterol, a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist (SABA). Both are inhaled therapies for obstructive airway diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Tiotropium acts by blocking muscarinic M3 receptors on airway smooth muscle, resulting in bronchodilation. Procaterol stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors, leading to relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle. This combination, if used, would theoretically provide both sustained and rapid bronchodilation. There is limited or no evidence of a marketed product or widely studied fixed-dose combination of tiotropium and procaterol together; most fixed-dose combinations use tiotropium with a long-acting beta-2 agonist (e.g., olodaterol).
