Tipapkinogene sovacivec is a therapeutic cancer vaccine based on a modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) vector engineered to express the E6 and E7 antigens from human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) as well as interleukin 2 (IL2)[1][2][5]. The drug is designed to induce specific cellular and humoral immune responses against HPV16-positive tumor cells by presenting the viral antigens to T cells via major histocompatibility complex class I and II pathways[1][5]. It also stimulates non-specific immune activation through the vaccinia vector and IL2 adjuvant effect. Tipapkinogene sovacivec has been investigated primarily for HPV16-positive cancers, including cervical, anal, vulvovaginal, penile, head and neck, and oropharyngeal cancers[2][3][4].
