Overview

Tiralos (CN128) is an orally bioavailable, small-molecule iron chelator developed by Hangzhou Zheda Hanyu Pharmaceutical in collaboration with the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. It is designed for the treatment of chronic iron overload in patients with transfusion-dependent anemias, such as thalassemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. Tiralos acts as a tridentate ligand that binds to ferric iron (Fe3+) with high affinity and selectivity, forming a stable complex that is subsequently excreted from the body. This mechanism helps to reduce systemic iron burden and prevent the toxic accumulation of iron in vital organs, including the liver and heart. Tiralos is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated as a potentially safer and more effective alternative to existing iron chelation therapies.
