Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tiscela (formerly known as NovaDerm) is an autologous tissue-engineered cultured skin substitute being developed by Regenicin for the treatment of catastrophic full-thickness burns and chronic wounds. The therapy is prepared by harvesting a small, stamp-sized biopsy of the patient's own skin, from which keratinocytes (epidermal cells) and fibroblasts (dermal cells) are isolated, expanded in vitro, and seeded onto a proprietary collagen scaffold. This bilayered construct mimics natural skin architecture, promoting rapid wound closure and tissue regeneration while minimizing the risk of immune rejection. Tiscela has received Orphan Drug and Humanitarian Use Device (HUD) designations from the FDA.
