Overview

TIV-2 is a trial-specific designation for an inactivated trivalent split-virion influenza vaccine developed by GSK. It was utilized as a comparator arm in Phase III clinical trials (such as NCT01204671) to evaluate the immunogenicity, safety, and lot-to-lot consistency of GSK's quadrivalent seasonal influenza vaccines, including Fluarix Quadrivalent and FluLaval Quadrivalent. The TIV-2 formulation contains inactivated hemagglutinin (HA) antigens from three seasonal influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and one influenza B lineage (Yamagata). Administered via intramuscular injection, the vaccine is designed to induce active immunity and the production of neutralizing antibodies to prevent seasonal influenza infection in adults.
