Overview

TIV1c is a cell culture-based trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV) used as a comparator in clinical studies of influenza vaccines. It contains three strains of inactivated influenza virus, including one B/Yamagata lineage strain, and is designed to induce immunity against seasonal influenza by stimulating the production of antibodies against the hemagglutinin surface antigen of the included viral strains. TIV1c differs from other trivalent cell-based vaccines (such as TIV2c) only by the B strain lineage included. The primary mechanism of action is to elicit an immune response that provides protection against infection with circulating influenza viruses matching those contained in the vaccine[6][7]. The vaccine has been evaluated for immunogenicity and safety in adults, showing comparable results to quadrivalent formulations.
