Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tixylix is a branded range of over-the-counter paediatric cough syrups marketed primarily in the UK and other regions, formulated for the relief of dry or tickly cough in infants and young children. The core medicinal products in this range, such as Tixylix Infant Cough Syrup and Tixylix Children’s Dry and Tickly Cough Syrup, use glycerol as the active ingredient, which acts as a demulcent to soothe the throat and may reduce cough by coating the mucosa and possibly blocking sensory cough receptors in the respiratory tract.[5][6][7] These sugar-free oral syrups are indicated for short-term symptomatic relief of non-productive cough in children, and the brand has been manufactured and distributed in the UK consumer health market by companies including Novartis Consumer Health and subsequently Thornton & Ross.[4][5][6]
