TJ083 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Tuojie Biotech for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Utilizing RNA interference (RNAi) technology, TJ083 is designed to specifically target and silence the mRNA encoding proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). By reducing the hepatic production of the PCSK9 protein, the drug prevents the degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of liver cells. This increase in LDLR density enhances the clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the bloodstream, thereby addressing the underlying cause of hyperlipidemia. As of 2024, the program is in the preclinical candidate (PCC) stage of development.
