TJC-002

TJC-002 is a novel small molecule opioid receptor agonist-antagonist being developed by Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology for the management of pain. It is a bridged-ring compound that functions as a partial agonist at the mu-opioid receptor (MOR) and an antagonist at the kappa-opioid receptor (KOR). This dual mechanism is designed to provide effective analgesia while potentially minimizing the side effects typically associated with pure mu-agonists, such as respiratory depression, and those associated with kappa-agonists, such as dysphoria. TJC-002 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers and patients with pain.
