Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TK-254RX is an investigational topical hydrogel patch containing 1.5% esflurbiprofen (the S-enantiomer of flurbiprofen), developed by Teikoku Seiyaku Co., Ltd. for the treatment of acute pain and soft tissue injuries such as contusions, sprains, and strains. The patch utilizes proprietary Hydrohesive® technology, a hydrophilic adhesive formulation designed for once-daily application. As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), esflurbiprofen acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. This topical delivery system is intended to provide localized relief with lower systemic exposure compared to oral NSAIDs, potentially reducing the risk of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular side effects.
