Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TKBE-009 is a topical small molecule phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor currently under development by Chongqing Huabang Pharmaceutical (Huabang Life Science) for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. As a PDE4 inhibitor, it functions by preventing the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) within inflammatory cells, leading to the downregulation of various pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-17, and IL-23 that drive psoriatic lesions. The drug is formulated as a cream for direct application to affected skin areas, aiming to provide localized anti-inflammatory effects with minimal systemic exposure. As of 2024, TKBE-009 is in Phase III clinical trials in China, positioning it as a potential domestic alternative to other topical PDE4 inhibitors like crisaborole or roflumilast.
