Overview
TKCell is an autologous activated lymphocyte (AAL) therapy developed by the South Korean biotechnology company Binex. It is an adoptive cell immunotherapy primarily investigated for the treatment of advanced, recurrent, or unresectable colorectal cancer. The therapeutic process involves harvesting peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from the patient, which are then expanded and activated ex vivo using interleukin-2 (IL-2) and anti-CD3 monoclonal antibodies. This expansion results in a potent population of activated T-lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells. Upon re-infusion into the patient, these activated immune cells are intended to recognize and eliminate malignant cells through direct cytotoxic activity. In clinical development, TKCell has been evaluated in combination with standard chemotherapy regimens, such as FOLFOX-4, to determine its efficacy in improving survival outcomes compared to chemotherapy alone.
