TLG-001

TLG-001 is a preclinical-stage drug candidate being developed by Tsubota Laboratory for the suppression of myopia progression. The program is based on the discovery that violet light (360–400 nm) acts as an environmental stimulus to suppress axial elongation of the eye through the activation of Opsin 5 (OPN5), a non-visual photopigment. TLG-001 is designed as a pharmacological agent to activate this violet light signaling pathway, potentially offering a treatment for myopia that mimics the protective effects of natural light exposure. The asset is part of Tsubota Laboratory's drug discovery pipeline, which focuses on translating research regarding light-mediated biological regulation into therapeutic interventions to address the global myopia epidemic.
