Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TLR4 shRNA (Toll-like receptor 4 short hairpin RNA) is a sequence-specific RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to silence the expression of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). TLR4 is a pattern recognition receptor that plays a critical role in initiating innate immune responses and inflammatory cascades. In various preclinical models, TLR4 shRNA has been investigated for its therapeutic potential in mitigating inflammatory and apoptotic processes. For instance, in diabetic mouse models, gene silencing of TLR4 has been shown to attenuate myocardial apoptosis and downregulate pro-apoptotic cascades involving caspase-3, caspase-8, and Fas. Additionally, TLR4 shRNA has been explored in research settings for its ability to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activation in liver fibrosis, suppress tumor growth in cervical cancer, and reduce the stemness of glioma cancer stem cells. TLR4 shRNA is primarily utilized as a research-use-only laboratory tool to study TLR4-mediated signaling pathways.
