Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TM2002 is a novel small-molecule experimental compound synthesized as an inhibitor of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and oxidative stress. Derived through structure-function analysis of edaravone, TM2002 acts by reducing oxidative stress and inhibiting AGE formation without the blood-pressure-lowering effects characteristic of angiotensin II receptor blockers. Preclinical research has demonstrated its potential in providing renoprotection and cardiovascular protection in diabetic models, as well as neuroprotection in focal cerebral ischemia by reducing infarct volume and inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
