TMB-607 is an investigational small molecule HIV-1 protease inhibitor developed for the treatment of HIV infection. It was designed to have a high genetic barrier to drug resistance and demonstrates a better cross-resistance profile compared to existing protease inhibitors. The drug was evaluated as both an oral prodrug and as a long-acting nanosuspension formulation, with potential uses including once-weekly or monthly injectable highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), maintenance of undetectable viral load, and prophylaxis. The long-acting formulation aimed to improve adherence by reducing dosing frequency and potentially avoiding gastrointestinal side effects associated with daily oral therapy. Development included phase 1 clinical studies in the United States, but the project was ultimately terminated by its developer.
