Overview

TML-GAM-21 is a ready-to-use (RTU) injectable formulation of sugammadex being developed by Themis Medicare. Sugammadex is a modified gamma-cyclodextrin that functions as a selective relaxant binding agent (SRBA). It is specifically designed to reverse the neuromuscular blockade induced by aminosteroid non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, such as rocuronium and vecuronium, during surgical procedures. Unlike traditional reversal agents like neostigmine, which inhibit acetylcholinesterase, sugammadex works by encapsulating the muscle relaxant molecules in a 1:1 ratio within its lipophilic core. This encapsulation creates a concentration gradient that pulls the relaxant away from the neuromuscular junction and into the plasma, leading to a rapid and predictable recovery of muscle function. The RTU formulation is intended to improve clinical efficiency and patient safety by eliminating the need for reconstitution or dilution in the operating room.
