Overview

TMS-007 is a small molecule SMTP (Stachybotrys microspora triprenyl phenol) derivative being developed for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It functions as a plasminogen modulator that enhances the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, specifically in the presence of fibrin, thereby promoting thrombolysis. Additionally, it exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). Originally developed by TMS Co., Ltd., the compound was previously licensed to Biogen (as BIIB131) before the rights were returned to TMS in 2022. It aims to extend the therapeutic window for stroke treatment compared to traditional thrombolytics like tPA by reducing the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage.
