Overview

OncoTab's tMUC1 Targeting Nanobody is a single-domain antibody fragment (VHH) engineered to specifically recognize the tumor-associated form of Mucin 1 (tMUC1). tMUC1 is a glycoprotein that is overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in over 80% of human solid tumors, including breast, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers, while remaining distinct from the MUC1 found on normal epithelial tissues. This nanobody is being developed for dual applications: as a molecular imaging agent for the detection of tMUC1-positive lesions and as a targeting moiety for the delivery of therapeutic payloads. Due to its small size (approximately 15 kDa), the nanobody offers superior tissue penetration and faster systemic clearance compared to full-length monoclonal antibodies, which may enhance the signal-to-noise ratio in diagnostic imaging and reduce off-target toxicity in therapeutic applications.
