Overview

TNFR2-FcV is a recombinant fusion protein variant that combines the extracellular domain of Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor 2 (TNFR2) with the Fc portion of an immunoglobulin, typically human IgG1. This molecular design allows it to modulate the activity of Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine. Depending on its specific design, TNFR2-FcV can act as a decoy receptor, neutralizing TNF-alpha and thereby inhibiting its inflammatory effects, or it can function as an agonist, directly activating TNFR2 signaling. Variants of TNFR2-Fc fusion proteins have been developed to enhance binding affinity to TNF-alpha or to specifically target TNFR2 for therapeutic effects, such as in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or in cancer immunotherapy by modulating regulatory T cells (Tregs) and other immune cells. The 'V' in TNFR2-FcV signifies that it is a specific variant, potentially engineered for improved efficacy or altered pharmacological properties compared to earlier generations of TNFR2-Fc constructs.
