Overview
TNX-3400 is a drug candidate being developed by Tonix Pharmaceuticals as a potentiated version of topiramate. It is primarily intended for the treatment of binge eating disorder (BED) and potentially obesity. Topiramate is a well-known anti-seizure medication that has demonstrated efficacy in reducing binge eating episodes and promoting weight loss; however, its clinical utility is often limited by significant central nervous system side effects, such as cognitive impairment (word-finding difficulties, memory issues) and paresthesia. TNX-3400 is designed to maintain the therapeutic benefits of topiramate while mitigating these dose-limiting side effects through a proprietary potentiated formulation. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
