TNX-3700 is a preclinical mRNA vaccine candidate being developed by Tonix Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Kansas State University for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes a novel Zinc Nanoparticle (ZNP) formulation technology as a delivery vehicle for mRNA encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This ZNP technology is designed as a more stable alternative to the Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) technology used in existing mRNA vaccines, potentially eliminating the need for ultra-cold chain storage and transport, thereby facilitating easier and more rapid global deployment. The program is currently in the preclinical research stage, involving studies in tissue culture and animal models.
