Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TO-211 is an allergen extract developed by Torii Pharmaceutical for the diagnosis of allergic diseases caused by the mold *Alternaria*. It is specifically designed for use in skin scratch or prick tests to identify sensitization to *Alternaria* allergens. The product functions by cross-linking allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies on the surface of cutaneous mast cells, which triggers degranulation and the release of inflammatory mediators, resulting in a visible wheal-and-flare reaction. TO-211 is currently in Phase III clinical development in Japan, where studies are evaluating its diagnostic concordance with existing allergen extracts and specific IgE antibody testing in patients with *Alternaria*-induced allergic diseases.
