Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TO-O-1005 is an investigational small molecule eye drop formulation being developed by Theratocular Biotek for the treatment of presbyopia. Unlike many pharmacological treatments for presbyopia that utilize miotic agents to induce pupil constriction (the "pinhole effect"), TO-O-1005 is designed to address the underlying physiological cause of the condition by restoring the natural accommodation ability of the eye. The drug's mechanism of action involves improving the elasticity of the crystalline lens, which typically stiffens with age, thereby allowing the lens to change shape more effectively for near-vision focusing. As of late 2022 and 2023, TO-O-1005 was in the early preclinical stage of development.
