Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TO-O-1006 is a small molecule ophthalmic solution being developed by Theratocular Biotek for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD). The drug is a topical eye drop formulation specifically designed to assist in the elimination of drusen—extracellular deposits of lipids and proteins that accumulate in the sub-retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) regions. Drusen accumulation is a hallmark of early-stage dry AMD and is thought to interfere with fluid efflux across Bruch's membrane, leading to metabolic stress and eventual degeneration of the RPE and photoreceptors. By promoting the clearance of these deposits, TO-O-1006 aims to delay the progression of dry AMD and preserve visual function. As of early 2026, the candidate is in the preclinical stage of development.
